New webinar series launched!
On Friday 23rd June, we launched an exciting new webinar series in which we will be showcasing UK winners of European heritage award programmes alongside heritage projects from across Europe that are of particular interest for the UK.
We started with a brilliant presentation about the transformational power of crowdfunded, crowdsourced archaeology from DigVentures' Lisa Westcott Wilkin.
In March 2020, not-for-profit social business DigVentures launched Archaeology at Home as an instant response to the conditions imposed on the practice of public archaeology by the COVID-19 lockdown. Combining virtual site tours and workshops, a six-week ‘How to do Archaeology’ course and a digital conference/festival (all provided free of charge on the basis of an opt-in funding model) Archaeology at Home reached over 11,000 people from 90 countries!
The project was awarded the Europa Nostra Award in 2021 for education, training and awareness-raising in the field of cultural heritage, as well as the 2021 Heritage in Motion award, and has gone on to shape other exciting projects that create opportunities for people to support and get involved in archaeology.
